Last week I attended a sneak preview to my husband’s (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) latest movie, 50/50 with my roommate. I was beyond stoked when my good friend Marvin told me he was handing over 2 free tickets to yours truly…uhhh I LOVE FREE STUFF AND I LOVE JOE SO THANK YOU. I had been looking forward to seeing this film for AGES (okay maybe not that long but c’mon, Seth Rogen AND Joe? This film should’ve existed years ago). It might’ve taken 3-4 hours of public transportation/walking but we made it just in time to the movie theater in San Jose #BOOYAH.   Inspired by a true story, the dramedy follows Adam’s (Joe) life after he finds out he is diagnosed with a rare form of spine cancer (his chances of living are roughly 50/50, hence the title). The best thing about this film (other than the fact that Joe is just so adorable in it) is that it’s realistic. There’s none of that “let’s go jump out of rocket ships and snorkel with lochness monsters because I might not get the chance to later” bucket list shenanigans.  No, this movie’s too good for that. It’s witty, it’s hilarious (much due to Rogen’s awesomeness), and even though sometimes it gets pretty freakin’ depressing…you still manage to laugh through the sobbing. OKAY it’s not that sad, but I definitely got teary at some points. Whether you get a good laugh or a good cry out of this, you’ll definitely be feeling better after you watch this film. 50/50 opens today so be sure to check it out.   I have night blindness.. Teresa
