I’m in a bit of a rush (on my way to the garlic festival in Gilroy (I KNOW U R SUPER JEALOUS) (I’ll keep you posted) (pun intended) (let’s see how many parentheses I can fit into one sentence) (:D) so I’m just gonna get straight to the facts. Today is 24/7, a.k.a. Life in a Day day! Director Kevin Macdonald invites YOU to film your life for the next 24 hours (get it? 24/7? ayyyy) So grab your camera and head out (or in, under, over I’m sure they’re not fussy) and film you and/or your friends/family/strangers/cats doing whatever the hell you want (snorkeling, battling tigers, purchasing all of Threadsence’s new arrivals..you know something inspiring.) For more detailed instructions and info about this project go here: http://www.youtube.com/lifeinaday

Have a frenzied fun film-filled day!

HOLY DAFT PUNK!!!!

July 23rd, 2010 | Tags: , ,

For those of you who know me – which is probably no one but the members of team ThreadSence – know that I have an affinity for anything Daft Punk. So imagine my surprise when I came across this little bit of YouTube goodness this morning. If you asked me to draft up a ‘Top 3 Daft Punk Goodies’ list, I’d gladly retort:

(In no particular order)

1). A 40-foot-tall, LED-encrusted pyramid, with a retractable front cover wired to make any Disneyland Light Parade look like a Lite-Brite (which is still VERY cool in it’s own right, but not in this case).

2). The most elaborate DJ setup known to Daft man or woman (shown below).

3). A DAFT PUNK HELMET!!!!!!

God bless this kind soul for doing what I have tried to yet failed so miserably in past lifetimes. I once again have purpose in life as to procure one of these bad boys for Halloween ’10. Just think of think of the interesting conversations you’d spark at parties….

Scott Pilgrim Takes Over the World

(The 6th and FINAL book of the series comes out today)

29065_399044457678_793297678_3955513_2259569_n.jpg
(my dear friend Marb, look out for him in the new book! :D )

A year ago my friend Marb suggested to me that I read the comic book series “Scott Pilgrim.” He told me that these mere little books changed his life and went on reiterating how epic and awesome they were. I was intrigued but hesitant. Then he added, “You know, they’re gonna come out with a movie based on the series and Michael Cera’s casted as the lead.” I replied swiftly, “You’ve sunk my battleship of doubt. I will read this magnificent comic.” It took me a while to pick up the first book but when I finally did make that legendary $11.99 purchase at Borders…I wanted to build a time machine just so I could go back to the moment I hesitated and drop kick myself in the throat again and again and again. Yes, it’s that good. I was literally LOLing and ROFLing all over the place. With each book it got harder and harder to put down, but because they were so easy to read (more drawings than words, more books should be like this!) each book was barely in my hands for more than hour tops. The brain of author and illustrator Bryan Lee O’Malley is, and I state this with full and complete confidence, a mad genius…a mad-crazy-badass-I-don’t-even-I-can’t-OMG-WHAT-DID-YOU-JUST-DO-TO-MY-BRAIN-WITH-YOUR-BRAIN-THAT-WAS-IMPRESSIVE-genius. Marb got to meet the almighty O’Malley last year at Comic Con and SOMEHOW he was chosen to be drawn in the 6th book (pic above). I’m not jealous. I’m not T_T

The series follows 23-year-old Scott Pilgrim, he’s lazy, clueless, and the most awesome fictional character you’ll ever meet (next to Harry Potter, of course). He’s sort of a loser, but what incredibly boss hero isn’t? I mean Harry Potter lived in a cupboard for 11 years of his life and then went on to defeat Voldemort, the most evil and powerful wizard of all time. Scott Pilgrim is average, he’s Canadian, and he plays bass in the band “Sex Bob-Omb”…but the moment he met Ramona Flowers, a dangerously attractive American delivery girl, he was a changed man, more or less. He’s willing to do anything to get her even if it means defeating her seven evil exes, which he learns that he MUST do in order to date Ramona at all (AWESOME RIGHT?! RIGHT?!!?) The 6th book comes out today, July 20th (YAY!) So if you haven’t began reading yet, do so now or you’ll never live a complete and happy life.

While you’re at it, you can also check out this behind the scenes look at the movie, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. It’s due out in theaters August 13th, 2010.

We here at TS are always looking for inspiration whether it be in the form of art, music, and/or of course – fashion, so it’s no surprise that we’re hella into Mink Pink’s spring/summer 2010 campaign. The 70′s feel of this shoot is so gosh darn friggin’ adorable that you can’t help but feel the urge to slap on some florals and prance and lollygag outside in the sun while whimsically blowing dandelions into the summer air. Sweet job MP! :)

Stay classy Threadsters,

You’ve Got The Style I Need To See Me Through

I know, I know, I’ve already professed my love for Florence Welch in another blog post not too long ago…but I don’t care, I’m going to do it again. You guys already know that she can sing like Superman flies, but did you know that she can also dress like Batman kicks ass? She totally has the I’m-going-to-wear-this-ginormous-flowy-dress-thing-and-a-ferret-mask-with-peacock-feathers-sticking-out-of-my-butt-and-still-look-fabulous-anyway thing down..and I’m completely digging it. It was her vocal chords that lured me in but it was the sparkly, spandex leotard and silver heels she wore in the ‘You’ve Got The Love’ music video that REALLY got me hooked..or maybe it was the fact that she was dancing rather promiscuously while wearing that stellar outfit, who knows..all I know is homegirl’s got some crazy steez.

(Image via WhoWhatWear.com)

How crazy may her steez be, you might ask. Well, to answer your question all you would have to do is check out a Florence + the Machine music video. Pretty much all of them include Miss Welch donning some pretty funky outfits. I’d like to think of her as the Lady Gaga of the indie world. Her wardrobe choices in ‘Cosmic Love’ and ‘Dog Days Are Over’ are probably my top faves of Florence fashion.  Her real life wardrobe is just as fascinating as her costumes … she wase even featured on Who What Wear as the stylish girl of the month  (gotta love the oxford-style pumps)!! Ranging from vintage hippie to english tomboy to straight up drag japanese rockstar, Florence Welch’s quirky sense of style knows no bounds in this universe…and there’s no other way I’d rather have it.

Your favorite hipster,
Teresa
