But before I get to that awesome stuff, Joe (we’re on a nickname basis now) is the head honcho of the INGENIOUS online open collaborative production company called hitRECord. Basically, anyone can join and upload any of their original work (video, audio, writing, photography, art, ANYTHING) onto the site, and then the hitRECord community is free to remix it in any way they fancy. So for instance, if I uploaded a video of me professing how awesome I am to the camera, someone else can download that video and add a song, add animations, add a voiceover, add really whatever the hell they want to, they can even edit it or take a screenshot and work from there. And it’s all FREE! HitRECord.org is pretty much an artist’s wet dream come true.

So last week Melissa and I attended hitRECord at the Movies, hosted by Joe at The Vista Theater in Los Angeles. They screened a dozen or so short films (including the one shown above..but instead with Joe doing live voiceover ) and previews of upcoming projects (they also screened a preview of Joe’s newest film, Hesher), and also got the audience to participate in live readings, sing-a-longs, and other awesome stuff. I tried to keep my fangirling to a minimum as Joe entered the theater running through the aisle in all his swaggerific cuteness and charm. Though I can’t say the same for the other girls in the room as they foamed at their mouths screaming and chasing him (including Melissa….jk haa).
