We are head over heels for our latest feature, Alter Ego, and it’s all thanks to the amazing styling of Kat Bonus. The concept behind the shoot was to have six pairs of outifts, with each pair using one of the same pieces. Kat barely blinked an eye and overshot every one of our expectations (she’s really good at that). Let’s get down to business and learn some of her styling secrets…
Q: Did you like styling two outfits around one piece?
A: I absolutely had an amazing and fun time when it came to styling for the Alter Ego feature! At first, I was a bit nervous when our creative team decided that one piece had to be consistent in the outfits, but I’m glad we did it that way. It really focuses on both kind of girls that would shop at ThreadSence – your edgy chick and more boho-inspired girl. A definite battle between sexiness.
Q: Did you have any difficulties during this shoot?
A: If I could point out one difficulty when it came to styling around one piece, it would be making sure that the item was used the same way (whether it be layering an item underneath the dress or a knit over separates), while still maintaining the looks to be its own. That’s where the other separates definitely came in handy in order to really get the full effect of the looks.
Q: How did you choose the six shared pieces?
A: I chose the six essential items for your summer wardrobe that every fashion forward chick should have: 1) the perfect go-to dress, 2) printed shorts, 3) lightweight jacket, 4)breezy knit, 5) high-waisted pants, and 6) an awesome button up.
Q: Favorite part of this feature?
A: Favorite part of the Alter Ego Feature would definitely have to be seeing the outfits come to life. Our model Thais had both looks down when it came to how to work the outfit, as well as the hair and makeup being effortlessly sexy and all things awesome.
Q: Okay, we have to know – which one is your favorite look?
A: Favorite look goes to the edgy shorts outfit (see below). It’s simple and easy! Would wear this outfit in a heartbeat!
Check out the entire feature: Alter Ego, there’s at least two sides to every style, and let us know what you think!
Thanks, Kat! Meow!
