Our stylist, Justin has a thing or two to teach you about killing it when it comes to back-to-school style. We all know that the first days back to class are during that awkward, in-between season time where the weather can be pretty unpredictable. To master back-to-school style, Justin has a few tips for getting through the first few months and beyond. You’re gonna want to take notes.

Building Your Outfit – Comfort is always important, especially at school! You don’t want to wear anything too constricting, because you’ll be walking from class to class or sitting through long lectures, so comfort is the priority. A texture, a print and a basic are the three things that I usually go for when building an outfit. You can’t go wrong when you have a print and a basic together, and adding a hint of texture adds a visually pleasing element to your outfit.

Love Your Layers– Embrace tanks. Tanks are great when you want to add some sort of texture to any outfit, whether it stands alone or is layered under a sweater or blouse. It’s always good to have some sort of light knit whether it’s a sweater, cardi, or chambray button up you can throw over any outfit. It’s perfect for when it gets warmer outside because you can just take it off and tie it around your waist to give your outfit shape while still keeping it interesting.

Embrace Oversized– On lazy days, graphic or textured tees and oversized anything are always on point. Oversized fits give you the comfort of being ready for whatever you need to do while still  having some interest to your outfit.

No matter your personal style, you’ll always need a few key pieces you can count on for beginning an awesome outfit. Here are the three things I recommend investing in for the fall season:

A Boyfriend Jean – It’s a piece you can wear over and over again, no matter the season. You want to invest in that one jean that’s easy to wear with everything, especially when it also adds some sort of texture to your outfit depending on how baggy or distressed they are.

Outerwear– You’ll need a jacket moving into the colder months, so it’s important to choose one that you can wear with any outfit. Adding a leather jacket to any outfit it a guaranteed way to make you look ultra cool.

Boots — Boots will always be a good investment because its something you can wear with dresses, jeans…. whatever! You need some a comfy pair of shoes to get you from class to class, and boots are the answer.
