If you are lucky enough to live near a screening of Hit So Hard, The Life & Near Death Story of Patty Schemel, I urge you to stop whatever you are doing and go see this doc on the amazing Patty Schemel (the badass and talented drummer of Hole aka Courtney Love’s rock band) and the entire 90s Seattle grunge scene.
Why should you listen to me? Besides the fact that the grunge era dramatically changed music, Patty lived through hell and back during Hole’s quick success, endured and overcame addiction, and filmed the whole thing (no pun intended). Her footage of their infamous Live Through This tour is basically an all access pass to one of the most iconic tours/scenes/people of the early 90s, including intimate shots/interviews with Patty, Courtney Love, Kurt Cobain, etc. and I can hardly imagine anything more moving/inspiring/depressing/amazing.
Check for a screening near you, and get on it while/if you can!
Update: You can pre order it on DVD/Blu-ray here. It’s available for the masses on June 5.
