Which way do you swing, under or over? Approach dresses with a layer over, layer under attitude. ‘Cuz no dress deserves to go it alone.

Layering over dresses is a tried and true way to build a ‘fit. Plus it means you can wear any dress in your closet regardless of the weather forecast. Printed dresses call for sheer or solid layers to add a blocked effect and add texture. When a dress comes in solid hues, cue the prints. Floral kimonos add a boho chic vibe, an Aztec print pullover adds visual interest and a slouchy cool factor, and a faux fur vest is a go-to for instant glam.

Layering under is unconventional in the raddest of ways. A button-up layered under a dress is Alexa Chung-meets-nineties revival awesome while a basic cotton tee layered under faux leather declares punk rebel confidence. Or pick a tee in a different hue than an Aztec print dress for just one more layer to winterize a dress or combat those springtime chills. If layering under is new territory, push on like Lewis and Clark towards new sartorial horizons.

Shop pieces to layer OVER.

Which way do you prefer?
