New School: BANKS

February 17th, 2014 | Music, Band Profiles

Who: BANKS, otherwise known as the ever-so-sultry Jillian Banks.

Scene: Sunny Los Angeles, CA.

Sounds like: Hot creamy butter gliding over naked taste buds – and that’s only talking about her vocals. BANKS could swoon anyone’s shirt/pants/face off in one line flat. It’s no wonder The Weeknd took her on tour with him – she’s pretty much him except with xx chromosomes (but oh so much better). There really is no comparison. Combined with sweltering production, her dark R&B croons are mesmerizing, captivating, spellbinding…she’ll turn any dull moment into a downright sexy one. I’ll die happy if you’d just put me in a room with her, a mic, and a large speaker that can handle a lifetime’s worth of bass.

Why she’s awesome: BANKS exudes all things cool – and it isn’t just her all black wardrobe (though it doesn’t hurt). Her talent is insane, which could explain why she’s blown up so much without even an album. At the end of each of her tracks I’m basically on my knees begging for more – it’s just that good. Going to Coachella this year? Make sure you see her (bring extra pants).
