New School: ODESZA

October 30th, 2012 | Music, Band Profiles

Who: A marvelous production duo consisting of Harrison Mills (Catacombkid) and Clayton Knight (BeachesBeaches).

Scene: Seattle, Washington.

Sounds like: A trippy mindfuck of a dream where I’m chasing down a turntable wielding white rabbit. And the deeper I head down the rabbit hole, the more I find myself beautifully transfixed in an ambient electronica dream that I never want to leave.

Why they’re awesome: ODESZA possesses a very impressive sampling prowess, combined with flawless sound production and an innate ability to refix anything to sound amazing. Put that all together and you’ve got a delicious atmospheric electronica pie that everyone’s dying to stuff their face in/know the recipe for. This duo will leave anyone in a mesmerizing state of mind with just one bite.

And why they’re EVEN MORE awesome: They’re letting everyone download their album, Summer’s Gone, for absolutely free (you can get the album here). Uhm, these guys rule. So hard. Which is why we featured them in not only our Designer Hot Minute with Modern Vice but also in our Winter Lookbook Video, The Finest Hour.

Dream on,
