Port of Morrow

March 20th, 2012 | Reviews, Music

5 years is way too long to survive without The Shins, but survive we did. When you go this long without releasing an album, it’s hard to compete with past albums steeped with a ridiculous amount of nostalgia, with songs that remind you of simpler times mixed in with happiness and pure bliss. However, Port of Morrow has enough classic Shins sound to welcome you home, running with arms wide open. The Shins have the same gloriously awesome feel but with enough newness for you to realize that yes, 5 years is way too long to survive without The Shins.

Favorite Track: Ok, I’ll admit, it’s still Simple Song. Maybe because I’ve been listening to it for a while and the rest of the album has yet to become a part of me. Either way, it’s still my favorite right now.
