The Mosh Pit: Penguin Prison at Echoplex

March 10th, 2014 | Shows, Music

I’ve been a pretty big fan of Penguin Prison (a.k.a. Chris Glover, the slick prince of synthpop and dance) for a solid couple of years now, so getting to share the stage with him as he went balls to the wall at Echoplex was nothing short of life-affirming.

The Mosh Pit: SPEAK at Bootleg Bar

January 25th, 2014 | Shows, Music

I had the awesome pleasure of seeing Austin based synth-pop-rock quartet SPEAK perform last Sunday for their residency at Bootleg Bar. I’m an automatic fan of any band that’s armed with in-your-face synthage, effortless falsettos, and face-melting guitar melodies.

The Mosh Pit: Wild Cub at The Standard Hotel LA

February 16th, 2013 | Shows, Music

In no way was I prepared for the epicness that went down at The Standard last night. If I had been briefed beforehand on Keegan DeWitt’s insanely infectious dance moves, the band’s nuclear powered energy, and the fact that I would be experiencing it all in a room with 5 ping pong tables and less than 100 people – I wouldn’t have believed it.

The Mosh Pit: Treasure Island Music Festival

October 16th, 2012 | Shows, Music

After this weekend, I can say without a doubt in my mind that Treasure Island Music Festival is one of my top favorite festivals of all time. Let’s face it, nothing beats San Francisco. The air was filled with excitement, bubbles, and other illicit particles…

The Mosh Pit: The Black Keys and Tegan and Sara at Honda Center

October 9th, 2012 | Shows, Music

Last night, Tegan and Sara & The Black Keys were absolutely, insanely incredible…

The Mosh Pit: Beach House and Dustin Wong at The Wiltern

September 28th, 2012 | Shows, Music

It was exactly four years ago that I discovered the delicious dream pop sensation that is Beach House. I’ve been heavily lagging on actually catching them live, but thank the music gods they had a sold out two night stint at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. So enough lagging, let’s go on with the show, shall we?

The Mosh Pit: Kevin Devine

March 24th, 2012 | Shows, Music

Kevin Devine & The Goddamn Band played at The Constellation Room last night. We’ve been following him for at least 4 years (has it really been that long?), and were extremely excited to see him again.

The Mosh Pit: The Temper Trap

March 22nd, 2012 | Shows, Music

We caught Temper Trap at The Glass House last night, and it was phenomenal. Dougy’s voice was just as amazing as I hoped it would be in person, and the band. Australia kicks major ass in music, and Temper Trap was there to prove it.

I Came, I Saw, I Survived SXSW

March 22nd, 2012 | Shows, Music

Lilly’s back with another year of SXSW music, activities, frenzy and exhaustion logged in the books! Check out some of her highlights from one of the greatest music experiences ever…

The Mosh Pit: Dia Frampton

March 20th, 2012 | Shows, Music

Dia Frampton & the rest of the gang headlined at The Troubadour in all their glory, with American Tomahawk and Jarrod Gorbel opening. (Check them out if you get the chance.) The band had all their regular equipment in South Dakota, so they stripped down for an acoustic performance, just the way we like it.
