Who: The Sweet Serenades, led by the ‘woodsmen of indie pop’ Martin Nordvall and Mathias Näslund.

Scene: Stockholm, Sweden. As if there isn’t already enough awesome music that comes from that place. Sweden is like THE breeding ground for brilliant music.

Sounds like: An endless party of good times and high fives. You definitely can’t judge a book by its cover with these guys. They might look like they’re about to hack you with a Super Mario-sized pickaxe but in reality they’re just some fun dudes who wanna make some catchy, unadulterated, feel-good tunes. It’s no wonder that their incentive is to “create unpretentious pop songs that make you feel cool, makes you wanna dance and spontaneously scream ‘YEAH’.”

Why they’re awesome: Because they do make me wanna spontaneously scream ‘YEAH’ all the friggin’ time. Any band that can do that is a-ok in my book. Their music has some kind of power that forces me to unleash crazy yet good/chill but rampant energy, and if you knew me well, you would know that doesn’t happen very often. That in itself should speak volumes.
