I had the awesome pleasure of seeing Austin based synth-pop-rock quartet SPEAK perform last Sunday for their residency at Bootleg Bar. I’m an automatic fan of any band that’s armed with in-your-face synthage, effortless falsettos, and face-melting guitar melodies. I surrender, seriously. Peaks was probably the high point of my night, as it was the first song that introduced me to these rad dudes. And I’m glad to say that they did not disappoint, it sounded just as magical live as it does through my headphones at home. Troupe Grammage had just the right amount of grit with his smooth croon, and the rest of the band knew all the right buttons to push with their slick moves. Well played, Austin, well played.

We’re downright spoiled to get these guys for 3 shows in la. If you haven’t seen ‘em yet, catch their last show at Bootleg this Sunday 1/26 at 8pm. Not like you need any more incentive, but the show is 100% FREE. So if you’re 21+, you have no excuses.
