It’s that time of year again to move back to campus and get settled in to your dorm room. We’re pretty sure no one wants to live in a tiny room with blank walls (because that’ll drive anyone crazy) so we’re prepared to help you transform your dorm from bare to totally badass. We’re not all born interior designers, but you’ll be surprised how a little decor can go a long way!
Tip #1: Brighten up your space with a few pieces of wall art. Doing homework for hours is already a major drag, so it helps to have some awesome artwork to cheer you up.
Tip #2: Don’t be afraid of a little clutter. It’s important to make your space feel like home with personal touches and little trinkets like note holders, a little phone book to keep in touch with friends, and your favorite nail polishes for those girls’ nights with your roomies.
Tip #3: Use cool shelves to maximize your space and display your fave books and objects. Floor space is severely limited in a dorm room, so shelves are pretty much lifesavers. They’re an easy way to add a little personality to your room by helping you show off your things in an organized way.
Tip #4: Get personal with chalkboard notes and fresh flowers in too cool vases. Chalkboards are great for jotting down quick notes or just to doodle on when you’re procrastinating on that English homework. Plus, they bring an awesome old-school feel to your space. And we can’t forget about a good vase! Having flowers in the room automatically lifts our spirits and we love having them around at all times.
Tip #5: Incorporate color wherever you can for some all-around good vibes. Black and white is classy and cool, but a colorful room has great energy. And while you’re in school you could use all the energy and stimulation you can get. You don’t have to get too crazy with it, but displaying colorful purses and accessories is a great way to show off some color and style.
